Community is key and we want to make a difference.

The Brook Waimarama Sanctuary in Nelson holds a particular place in Kay’s heart. She volunteers there most weekends, and is currently on a 3000km journey, walking the length of NZ and raising funds for the Sanctuary. You can follow Kay’s progress on her blog or make a donation on the Give a Little page. Chapmans also sponsored a fence post when the pest proof fence was erected and are an ongoing business sponsor. Kay’s support for the community is diverse. In 2013 she was one of three recipients across the country of the Age Concern National Dignity Champion Award for her contribution to the organisation.

Marie has contributed a great deal to SPCA locally and nationally. She has a passion for the welfare of animals. She served on the national and local boards and provides countless hours of pro bono HR and ER advice to the SPCA.

Katrina and Rosey are the guardians and drivers for reducing our environmental impact. We have installed solar panels (our carbon offset to May 2019 is 183 trees), we have bee hives, a worm farm for our food waste, planted fruit trees with the intent of donating the fruit when they start producing. We have made many other changes within the business to reduce our waste and use of plastics, and increase the ways to recycle. We are members of the Sustainable Business Network, and are working through the requirements to be certified as a zero carbon business.

Chapmans is a bronze sponsor of LifeLinc, a Nelson organisation dedicated to providing support to anyone experiencing mental health or life challenges. They are also a sponsor of the Nelson Tasman Business Trust.
