Community is key and we want to make a difference.
The Brook Waimarama Sanctuary in Nelson holds a particular place in Kay’s heart. She volunteers there and walked the 3000km Te Araroa trail (length of New Zealand) and raising funds for the Sanctuary. You can read about Kay’s adventure on her blog. Chapmans also sponsored a fence post when the pest proof fence was erected and they are an ongoing business sponsor. Kay’s support for the community is diverse. In 2013 she was one of three recipients across the country of the Age Concern National Dignity Champion Award for her contribution to the organisation.
The Nelson Environment Centre’s purpose is to create a truly sustainable Nelson Tasman by focusing on waste reduction, recycling & reuse and building resilience in our community to meet environmental challenges of today and in the future.
An independent non-profit organisation that helps the Nelson Tasman community live more sustainably and reduce its impact on the environment. They are the longest serving environment centre in New Zealand and have been proudly serving our community since 1976.

The Chapman Team are guardians for reducing our environmental impact. We have installed solar panels, we have bee hives, a worm farm for our food waste, and fruit trees that are now producing fruit which we donate. We have made many other changes within the business to reduce our waste and use of plastics, and recycle. We are members of the Sustainable Business Network, and are working through the requirements to be certified as a zero carbon business.
