 The Chapman ER Team possesses a unique combination of expertise. The demands of creating, building and delivering services that can reliably meet the customer’s needs call for a diverse set of skills and backgrounds. Our team draws from leadership roles in fields such as telecommunications, engineering, printing, education, Information Technology, transport and process application development.

Beyond their individual backgrounds, this team prides itself in having a bold and realistic perspective on business drivers and a keen understanding of how ER and HR play a critical part in assisting businesses to achieve their overall company objectives.

Kay Chapman  

Kay has over 27 years experience in Employment Relations Consulting, Industrial Relations, and Human Resources Management.

She has worked nationally and internationally, assisting employers in all their employment related matters.

Kay’s experience includes working with clients in a wide cross-section of industry sectors including manufacturing, education, aviation, finance, construction, tourism, health, retail, food services and government agencies.

Kay has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chinese and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business (Dispute Resolution). She has attended numerous courses and conferences in Employment Law, Employment Relations and Industrial Relations.

Kay is a member of the Employment Law Institute of NZ, the Institute of Directors in NZ, and the Human Resources Institute of NZ.  Email Kay 

Christine Summerville 

Christine Summerville has extensive experience in General Management, Employment & Industrial Relations, Change Management and Human Resources.  Having a pragmatic and practical approach, with a style that can accommodate the requirements of the situation at hand, she has been the lead in several major restructures and has experience with collective bargaining and union matters. 

Christine has experience and skills to understand the drivers of a business and the commercial acumen to be creative with plans while remaining focused on the need to deliver business results. Email Christine

 

Marie Hall 

Marie has a Bachelor of Business Studies majoring in Human Resource Management and 23 years’ experience working in Human Resources.  Marie has worked in the public and private sectors, in large, small, corporate, manufacturing and also not-for-profit organisations. 

Marie came to us in 2013 from the role of General Manager Human Resources at New Zealand King Salmon.  Marie has knowledge and experience across the full range of HR, ER and H&S activities.  Marie has managed her own teams, operated at senior management level and held a number of governance roles. She particularly enjoys aligning HR needs and assisting to achieve HR outcomes to best fit with the commercial and strategic requirements of the business. Email Marie

 

Donna Scholfield  

Donna moved into consulting work with CER in March 2015. Prior to that, she was the Human Resources Team Leader at the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology. 

Donna advises on the full range of employment law issues including disciplinary investigations, performance management, management of medical incapacity, personal grievances, employment contracts and she has extensive change management experience along with 17 years state sector experience. Donna provides advice to employers ranging from large national public and private organisations to smaller family owned and operated businesses. 

Donna's strengths include her commitment to understanding the issues faced by her clients and the impact on their businesses or on them personally. She thinks practically and pragmatically to achieve commercial and workable solutions. Email Donna

 

Christine Summerville has over 20 years experience in General Management, Employment & Industrial Relations, Health & Safety and Human Resources. A key achievement was managing a major restructuring and subsequent merger project       between a College and University.  Christine has a pragmatic and practical approach, with a style that can accommodate the requirements of the situation at hand. She has        extensive experience with collective bargaining and union matters and has dealt with various unions including EPMU, PSA, TIASA, TEU and  NZEI. Christine has experience and skills to  understand the drivers of a business and the commercial acumen to be creative with plans while remaining focused on the need to deliver business results.
Christine’s formal education includes being a qualified  ISO 9001 Auditor.

Katrina Carson 

Katrina provides business development and support to the Chapman ER consulting team.

She has a background in marketing, advertising and recruitment and has worked for both large corporates and small businesses across hospitality, property, retail and human resource industries.

Tamara Allen 

Tamara joined the Chapman ER team in 2016 after a break in the workforce being a stay at home Mum and hasn’t looked back!  She gives part time administration support and undertakes duties and projects for the advancement and growth of the company.

She has a background in Production as well as Accounts and Admin and really enjoys being part of such a vibrant team of people!  Email Tamara
