Supersize Chapman ER!

BNZ and Newstalk ZB have collaborated to create a project called Supersize SME. They are helping three businesses to grow through expert mentors and following their respective stories. Chapman ER has been selected as one of those businesses.

My BNZ bank manager Evelyn O’Neil, was the initiator of this exciting and at the moment, surreal journey we are on. She suggested I enter, which required the submission of a 90-second video. It takes an inordinate amount of time to do a 90-second video! Several dozens of retakes later the video was uploaded and we then got a call to say we had been shortlisted to the top seven businesses.

I was flown to Auckland to participate in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ type event pitching to a panel of experts – Mike Hosking, broadcaster; Shelley Ruha, director of BNZ Partners; and Andrew Hamilton, CEO of business growth centre The Icehouse. Our pitch was about the web-based ‘app’ we are developing to deliver a number of our services.

There are many processes in HR, employment relations and employment law that every employer should be following. They are standard processes that are the same irrespective of the employer or the circumstances. You don’t necessarily need a consultation with an expert to get the answer you need if there was a way to receive the service digitally.  That is what we are creating – the digital platform for our services. I liken it to online banking. For those every day transactional requirements we no longer have to go into the bank – we do it online. So when we do need to see the bank manager it is a high value interaction.

Last Friday, Mike Hoskings announced on his Newstalk ZB breakfast show that we had been selected as one of the three businesses to have won.

I will be followed over the next 4 months as the development of the ‘app’ progresses, and have been provided with two incredible mentors; Stephen Bowe, Head of Digital at BNZ, and Donal Devlin Head of Digital Creative Services at BNZ.

You can watch, hear and read about the project as a number of videos, blogs and newspaper articles are beings produced.

As we develop our digital services we will be looking for business’s who would like to be part of trialling the products and provide feedback so we can deliver exactly what our clients want. If you are interested in participating please contact us or register your interest by clicking here. Once registered please be assured there will be no obligation to participate if you change your mind.

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to really drive a project I have had simmering away for a couple of years. I welcome you to follow me on the journey...

Kay.
