Employers and managers whose workers drive at work, often need to check the status of driver licences. NZTA now offer a service that not only enables you to do this, but ensures you will be automatically advised if the driver's licence status changes.
This service offers a further benefit; it lets you maintain and view your own company list of drivers – adding new drivers and removing any drivers who are no longer associated with your firm.
NZTA provide the following details about this new service:
You can use Driver Check to make inquiries about the licence of a driver in your company. You can find out:
what licence classes and endorsements they hold
whether there are any conditions on their licence
the status of their licence e.g. whether they are disqualified or suspended from driving, whether their licence is revoked or has expired.
What does Driver Check cost?
The fees for using Driver Check are (including GST):
Query $1.55 per inquiry
Add a driver $1.55 per driver
Remove a driver $1.55 per driver
Annual fee per company driver entered on the Driver Check system $1.55
Fee for a manual search $11.10
The NZTA automatically advises you if a change in licence status (including endorsements and conditions) occurs for a linked driver. There is no separate charge for this – it is covered by the $1.55 charge per driver per year.
